An August ‘giving month’ was arranged to keep funds flowing to support Crowborough Hospital following the cancellation of the annual Bank Holiday Hospital Fete due to the Covid-19 emer- gency. A town centre pop-up shop was the centrepiece of the Hospital Friends’ efforts with addi- tional funds being raised by a raffle and supermarket collections.

Thanks to the generosity of the owner, Mr Mahendra Sharma, the Hospital Friends opened their shop in the vacated part of Chappell’s pharmacy and health food store in Croft Road. It was open Monday to Saturday for the whole of August. Visitors were able to buy the wide range of goods normally sold by the Friends’ shop at the hospital including, homemade preserves, hand-knitted children’s clothes and keenly priced greetings cards.
