Mrs Sara Stonor, Vice Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, made an informal visit to Crowborough War Memorial Hospital on 9th April. She was welcomed by Richard Hallett, Chantal Wilson and Dr. Catherine Stokes and shown around the hospital.
In the Birthing Centre, they met midwives, mums, dads and babies – one of four days old and another of four hours!
Mrs Stonor commented on the changes since she had her own children there a number of years ago. She visited the Friends’ Shop to meet volunteers, and saw the Minor Injuries and Outpatients departments.
In the General Ward, she talked with staff and patients. The party went into the X ray department, met the staff and saw the new scanner which was funded by FoCH.
In the Day Centre, a rehabilitation session was in progress. Mrs Stoner met and chatted to
patients, staff, volunteers and members of FoCH over refreshments and was shown a number of pieces of specialist rehab equipment that had been funded by the Friends.
Mrs Stoner was very interested in all aspects of the hospital and the improvements that had been made since she was last there as well as in the work of the Friends.
